Primary Seven Explore Local History at Limavady Workhouse
Our Primary Seven pupils recently stepped back in time as part of their Great Irish Famine topic with an insightful visit to Limavady Workhouse.
This outstanding local resource gave our children the opportunity to experience history in a meaningful and memorable way. Through a guided tour, they developed a deeper understanding and empathy for those who lived through the harsh realities of the famine—people whose only fault was being poor.
The visit truly brought history to life. Inspired by what they learned, the children went on to create heartfelt poetry, expressing compassion for the suffering endured by so many during this difficult period in Irish history.
A huge thank you to LCDI for making this experience possible. Their support allowed our pupils to connect with the past and gain a new appreciation for the opportunities we often take for granted today.
It’s a day our Primary Sevens will not forget.
