In Primary One we are using 2-pan balance scales to compare objects of different weights. We learnt that the heavier object is lower on the scales and the lighter object is higher. We also learnt that the scales will balance if the objects are the same weight. We had great fun exploring the 2-pan scales outdoors in the orchard area. There were so many different things to weigh - we practised our prediction skills and using the language ‘heavier’, ‘lighter’ and ‘balanced’. We also enjoyed plenty of fresh air and fun with our friends.
