Microbe Investigators in Primary 7CL!

29th Oct 2025

Primary 7CL have been busy exploring the fascinating world of microbes through a hands-on science experiment. Our mission? To find out how mould grows under different conditions.

We started by listing our equipment and planning a fair test to make sure our results were reliable. Then, we used slices of white bread and applied different treatments:

• Clean hands pressed on one slice

• Dirty hands pressed on another

• One slice was wiped across a classroom desk

All the bread was placed in a dark spot, and then we waited to see what would happen. The children were amazed by the results! The slice wiped on the desk grew the most mould, followed by the one touched with dirty hands. The clean hands slice showed the least growth.

This investigation taught us so much about microbes, hygiene, and the importance of fair testing in science. It was a brilliant way to learn through observation and discovery!
