We were delighted to have Paula Mulgrew, Education and Community Officer for Dogs Trust, join us in school to lead some very enjoyable, informative and useful workshops for our P1-4 classes.
We had great fun meeting some cuddly toy dogs and finding out the best ways to ensure our dogs are happy, healthy and well cared for.
Paula taught us some very important rules…’The Happy Dog Rules’.
- If a dog is sleeping, we leave them alone.
- If a dog is eating, we leave them alone.
- We should be quiet around dogs.
- Dogs don’t like hugs. They like gentle strokes.
- If a dog takes your things, tell a grown-up.
Our parents and children kindly donated some bedding, blankets, towels, dog food, toys and treats. Paula was very grateful for this generous donation and we know these items will be put to good use while many dogs are waiting to be re-homed.
